I was born in 1993 on 10. 10. (no, it’s not a binary code, I was indeed born on 10th October). I don’t remember much from my early childhood, but my mother told me. That I was exceptionally good at yelling, tripping over doorstep and even speaking Turkish, or some language close to Turkish. I don’t know, maybe I was Turkish in my previous life. 😀
Since my father was programmer, and I was curious child, I always stared at him sitting behind the computer, and wondered, what is he doing. Yeah, sometimes he even tried to explain me, but my brain was nowhere to accept this kind of knowledge. Anyway, I tried to learn this kind of magic, called programming.
Honestly, my first programs were not amazing at all. Since I was attending Math Olympiad (it’s kind of math competition for students) since 3rd grade, we often got math problems like „Find all the 4-digit numbers, which read backwards, will be triple of the original number“. By the way, solution of that problem is pair of numbers 2178 and 8712. This is the kind of problem, which is very hard for 3rd grader, but very easy for computer. And that’s why is started to learn BASIC programming language.
Sometime later, my 11th birthday has come. Father asked me, what present I would like to receive. Of course, I told him book about programming. Since he was clever enough, he got, that probably books about Object-Oriented Programming will be too hard for me, and he bought me book about HTML. I was amazed instantly. For the next two weeks, I was reading, learning and scripting in HTML the whole time after the school. At that time, I decided to become programmer, just as my father is (though HTML is not programming language, but who cares :D).
And so in 2009 I entered gymnasium on Grösslingová Street in Bratislava, often called GAMČA. Yes, it’s the same gymnasium, that our first and only Nobel Prize winner, or our last Communist president attended. Meanwhile, I learned basics of Logo, C, C++ and Pascal programming languages. At that time, GAMČA was well known as very good Gymnasium for students interested in mathematics and computers. Honestly, I was expecting more to learn about PCs, but teachers were really good, and some classmates were cool as well. I graduated from Gymnasium in 2013, fortuitously passing all my exams.
Yet more than two years before my graduation, I became the scout at The International Union of the Guides and Scouts of Europe. Why the scout of Europe? Well, I like life in nature, and no other scouting organization was in my village. But that wasn’t the only reason. In fact, scouting is much more than just living (or very often surviving) in the forest. There are five pillars of scouting: nature, health, service, citizenship and faith. All five of them are very important. If You are interested more about scouting, just check my blog.
In September 2013 I entered The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. I consider this as one of my biggest mistakes. You can read more about my faculty later in my blog. As for now, the article on Dano Krnáč’s blog has to be sufficient for You.
But fortunately, everything has turned into good. During my studies on university, one day, I met with Martin Hrabovec, my friend from scouting, by chance. He was telling me about his idea of creating safer world thanks to earthquake prediction system, on which is he working. Idea itself was great, I was just thinking, that it can’t be possible, at least with my knowledge and skills. But I thought to myself, why not, and joined the team of three amazing and skilled boys: Martin himself, Jozef Tanzer and Martin Valent. After six month of hard, day-and-night work, we developed first prototype of Qbox, device, that can predict earthquake before it happens. Thanks to this project, we won many awards, including Social Impact Award 2015 and Leaf Award 2015.
So, what I am doing right now, You may ask. The answer is very simple: Programming, what else can I do? Yes, after many transfers from one company to another, I became proud member of GRÜN Software AG. I am responsible for development of Company Management software called eVEWA3, though “responsible” is quite strong word. In my free time, I like blogging, reading, playing PC games, playing chess, or just going out to the nature. Do You see, how much have I developed since my childhood?
